THEATRE

I studied at Oxford University where I played Puck in a celebrated production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, magically running across the surface of a lake to gather the love-inducing flower.

Then I trained at Granada TV as a director, also appearing as a presenter of magazine programmes. After a spell as a radio producer for the BBC World Service I embarked on a career in acting.

The late sixties was an exciting time in the theatre as many experimental groups were erupting on the scene, challenging traditional values and styles. I toured Europe in ensemble companies specialising in physical theatre appearing at the Venice Biennale and leading international arts centres.

Since then I have worked with the RSC, The Young Vic and many reps. I played Doolittle in “My Fair Lady” in a major tour of European cities starring Maximilian Schell.

From 11th to 30th September 2012 I will be playing the name part in “The Warden” a new adaptation of the first book in Anthony Trollope’s well-loved Barsetshire series. This exciting production is by Traffic Of The Stage. The venue is Upstairs At The Gatehouse in Highgate, London.
